What if FDR would have died at the start of 1942 instead of in April 1945? This can be done by either somehow making his health worse or by having him choke to death on a piece of food.

How would the new U.S. President Henry Wallace have handled World War II and its aftermath (assuming that he gets reelected in 1944, that is)?

Also, here is an important question--would Wallace have demanded unconditional surrender from Germany and Japan like FDR did in our TL? Or would Wallace have been more amenable to a compromise peace than FDR was in our TL?

Nice analysis, David. Effectively, President Wallace's leadership will yield a somewhat longer Iron Curtain, following WWII. And, that's the only real change. Because, you see, Roosevelt was no communist. He wanted to make sure the Soviets DIDN'T take over all of Europe, not that they did. Roosevelt was a very difficult man to read, indeed.

The optimal American game was to play the Soviets to win the war for the world against the Nazis, and give them as little as possible in return. Which, of course, Stalin and the Russians, were, and are, well aware of!
